West Virginia Tourism dominates D.C.
This June, CRA and the West Virginia Division of Tourism continued the fifth consecutive year of “D.C. Domination.” By buying every possible advertising space in the D.C. Metro Center, West Virginia Tourism literally dominates the Metrorail.
“The stresses of life that people experience become even more important in today’s marketing efforts,” Steve Gray, CRA creative director, said. “Motivating people to take a trip closer to home is a strategy that has worked for West Virginia. This year’s campaign targets beltway travelers longing for an escape as West Virginia offers the perfect escape from everyday worries.”
New to the 2009 campaign, the media team enhanced the placement with online elements, such as www.washingtonpost.com, newspaper and magazine components, and, for the first time, bus wraps.
This campaign, along with the success of the escapetowv.com site, has seen a positive impact with an increased number of West Virginia tourists. Both CRA and the West Virginia Division of Tourism look forward to seeing the results of the 2009 D.C. Domination campaign.
