Two in the Top 20
The Southeast Tourism Society (STS) selected two Greenbrier County events for Spring 2010 in its Top 20 Events listing - The Lewisburg Chocolate Festival (April 10) and the Battle of Lewisburg Living History and Reenactment (May 21-23). This is the second consecutive year for the STS honor.
“It is truly a privilege to be featured along with other winners like Louisville’s Kentucky Derby Festival and New Orleans’ French Quarter Festival,” said Kara Dense, executive director of the Greenbrier County Greenbrier County Convention and Visitors Bureau (GCCVB). “Being named to the STS Top 20 Events list gives these events a distinction that can be used in marketing and earned media efforts which entices visitors from all over the Southeast to visit the Greenbrier Valley.”
The Top 20 Events list began in 1985 as a way to promote the best events in the Southeast. Nominations must be received by STS members and the two Lewisburg events were nominated by the GCCVB in early October. The STS listing publication is disseminated to more than 1,600 newspapers, magazines, radio stations, TV stations, AAA
publications and others.
In September, the work CRA completed for the GCCVB’s Spring Blitz, won a “Most Innovative Campaign” award from the West Virginia Governor’s Conference on Tourism.
